Downtown Los Angeles: A User's Guide

Tour which accompanies this user's manual.

Downtown Los Angeles is a rich canvas. Over the last 160 years, the center of the city been built up atop the successive cycles of boom and bust. In each era, city makers have left their mark on downtown, leaving a toehold for the next wave. In its current incarnation the many neighborhoods of downtown are of great interest to scholars of urban studies, to residents and to investors, with each group bringing to the community their unique perspectives, biases and desires.

This evolving digital guide looks at the distinct downtown neighborhoods and their historic intersections, showing where downtown has succeeded, where it has failed, and where it can become stronger in its broken places. Meant to both enlighten the novice and provide insight to the erudite, it is a compliment to Esotouric’s bus tours, blogs and lectures.
