Old Bank District

This area was born out of a notion nurtured in the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) during the early 1990s: for true economic growth to come to the central core of downtown, whole blocks must be tackled at once. Tom Gilmore, with help from the CRA, did just that in the late 1990s, and the Old Bank District, anchored by the Farmers & Merchant's Bank at 4th & Main, was born.

As the epicenter of the grassroots Downtown Art Walk, it seems inconceivable that only ten years ago, this trendy neighborhood was part of Skid Row.
